TeliaSonera to trial wireless VoIP

17 Feb 2006

Scandinavian telco TeliaSonera says it is to become the first operator in Europe to trial wireless VoIP telephony via W-LAN, when it launches trails of the service for enterprise customers in Finland, Denmark and Sweden. The wireless IP telephony solution will utilise enterprise IP and WLAN networks when in the office and switch to mobile networks outdoors. TeliaSonera is conducting the trials in co-operation with Nokia and Cisco Systems to evaluate the technology’s functionality and usability, W-LAN infrastructure, handover between W-LAN and mobile and IP networks, as well as security and voice quality in various environments.
