eircom reports 7% fall in EBITDA

16 Feb 2006

eircom has reported a third quarter 7% fall in EBITDA to EUR142 million and a pre-tax profit of EUR24 million compared to the previous year’s figure of EUR39 million. CEO Philip Nolan said the EBITDA reduction could be explained by increasing competition and the continuing rollout of broadband. Group revenues for the three months ended 31 December 2005 were up EUR25 million to EUR424 million, buoyed by the acquisition of wireless operator Meteor Mobile in November last year. At the end of December Meteor claimed 565,000 subscribers (93% pre-paid), giving it a market share of 13.4%.
