Mobilink orders new home location server

14 Feb 2006

Pakistani cellco Mobilink has contracted US vendor Motorola to replace its existing legacy home location register (HLR) with a new home location server (HLS). The HLS is a more reliable, next generation home location register that will simplify Mobilink’s network, resulting in lower capital and operating expenses than its current switch-based solution. The HLS will provide for a capacity of up to 20 million subscribers; Mobilink currently has around 13 million users.
