Telenor Pakistan targeted by protesters

13 Feb 2006

Pakistani mobile users have begun a boycott of Telenor Pakistan, a subsidiary of Telenor of Norway, as part of protests against the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad by Danish newspapers and other western dailies, according to the PakTribune. The company’s offices in Attock was the scene of a mass protest involving 5,000 people, some of whom threw stones at the building and attempted to set it on fire. The paper claims that Telenor is facing substantial losses in terms of subscribers and revenues.
