Jordan Telecom doubles net income

Jordan Telecom has reported a 2005 turnover of JOD352.2 million (USD496 million), a JOD9.7 million increase on 2004’s total; net income more than doubled from JOD40.3 million to JD86.4 million. MobileCom, the company’s wireless arm, increased its earnings by 16% to JOD16 million, as a result of a 14% increase in traffic and a jump in customers from 465,000 to 751,000. Its ISP, Wanadoo, reported a 50% rise in turnover to JOD2.4 million, on the back of strong demand for ADSL services and a 45% rise in the number of subscribers.
