TRA reiterates monopoly of Vala 900

3 Feb 2006

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Kosovo has begun removing the wireless antennas of mobile operator Mobikos, according to the Economic Initiative for Kosova. The move is aimed at shutting down Mobikos, which it accuses of operating without a licence. Mobikos has been embroiled in a long-running battle with the regulator over its ownership. The TRA maintains that Vala 900, backed by Kosovo’s fixed line operator PTK and Monaco Telecom, has a monopoly on wireless services in the region.
