BCE fourth quarter profit flat

2 Feb 2006

Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE), owner of Bell Canada, the country’s largest telco, has reported that its fourth quarter profit was almost flat following large-scale restructuring charges incurred by the telecoms group. BCE, which also owns internet portal Sympatico and satellite TV operator Bell ExpressVu, said it earned CAD413 million (USD366 million), or 44 Canadian cents a share in the quarter, compared with a profit of CAD417 million, or 45 Canadian cents a share a year previously, as the company grappled with billing glitches at its wireless unit. BCE forecast revenue growth for 2006.
