Internet growth cools in the Netherlands

26 Jan 2006

According to new research from Telecompaper, there were 5.39 million internet users in the Netherlands at the end of September 2005, a rise of just 170,000 in the first nine months of the year. The report explains that with penetration rates running at more than 76% of Dutch households, internet growth is slowing and quarterly net additions in 2005 were less than 75,000 compared with over 100,000 in 2004. Broadband is not surprisingly driving growth, but Telecompaper noted that dial-up accounts continue to fall.
