Maroc Télécom’s 2005 results ‘comfortable’

18 Jan 2006

The chairman of Moroccan incumbent telco Maroc Télécom, Abdeslam Ahizoune, told reporters this week that his company will report ‘comfortable’ earnings for 2005 when it releases its full annual financial report on 27 February. Giving no figures, Ahizoune said that Télécom’s results for the year will ‘make our shareholders happy,’ adding that ‘the year 2006 marks a turning point for the Moroccan telecoms sector with the advent of the high speed mobile phone, ADSL television, the convergence of the fixed and mobile phone and the boom of new services.’ He also declared that the carrier would be upping its annual investment in 2006, as it did in 2005. The Moroccan group’s earnings for the first nine months of 2005 were up 12.8% on the corresponding period of 2004.
