Aktel launches country’s first full Bangla SMS service

16 Jan 2006

Bangladeshi cellco Aktel has launched the country’s first full Bangla language SMS service, named ‘Aktel Mayer Bhasha’, enabling users to write, send and receive SMS in Bangla text. Customers with compatible handsets can install the Aktel Mayer Bhasha software via GPRS from the Aktel website. Once the application is installed, each of the handset’s keys corresponds to a set of Bangla characters; text messages are charged at standard SMS rates.
