TeliaSonera to appeal against spectrum transfer ruling

10 Jan 2006

TeliaSonera Finland says it plans to appeal to the Supreme Administrative Court against a ruling by the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA) concerning the renewal of the GSM-900 license of its subsidiary Sonera Mobile Networks, according to eFinland. Under the terms of the concession renewal, FICORA transferred the rights of use related to 19 channels from Sonera to Finnet Networks, owner of rival cellco DNA Finland. TeliaSonera says the transfer of the rights will result in expenses of between EUR15 million and EUR20 million. The radio frequencies must be transferred by the end of 2006.
