Liberalisation ‘likely’ to be delayed

10 Jan 2006

According to a report from local business daily Capital Financiero, red tape could delay the proposed liberalisation of the Costa Rican wireless market, scheduled for the start of 2007. In order to meet the deadline, a bill to open the market up would need to be passed by the Legislative Assembly in the next couple of months. Once this has been completed, the matter would be handed over to the utilities regulator Aresep who would enter consultation with incumbent monopoly, ICE.
