KT Corp completes fixed line rollout for BTTB

23 Dec 2005

South Korea’s KT Corp has completed a USD28.5 million fixed line network expansion and modernisation project on behalf of government-owned telco Bangladesh Telegraph & Telephone Board (BTTB). The project, first announced in September 2004, saw KT install 125,000 new telephone lines in the Chittagong, Khulna, and Sylhet regions. BTTB is aiming to increase the country’s number of fixed lines to a million in 2006; at the end of 2004 Bangladesh had 790,000 lines in service, giving it a teledensity of 0.6%.
