Cesky mulls name change

16 Dec 2005

Czech fixed line incumbent Cesky Telecom is contemplating changing its name to reflect the ownership of its 70% majority shareholder, Telefónica of Spain. Cesky is said to be considering how much a name change would cost and will announce its decision early in 2006. The Czech firm was called SPT Telecom until 2000, when its re-branding to Cesky Telecom cost CZK200 million (USD8.29 million).
