UPC to launch IP telephony service

The Czech division of pan-European cable operator UPC is to launch an internet telephony service in the country. According to the Czech Business Weekly, the Dutch parent company has signed a deal with Canadian company Minacom Labs to test and develop voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) services in the Czech Republic. UPC joins rival cableco Karneval Media in the race to launch the country’s first national VoIP service.
