Fastlink passes two million mark

8 Dec 2005

Jordan’s biggest mobile operator PELLA, which offers services under the brand name Fastlink, says it has become the country’s first cellco to sign up two million subscribers. A subsidiary of the powerful Middle Eastern mobile group MTC, PELLA was Jordan’s first, and for a number of years only, mobile operator. It launched services under the Fastlink name in 1995 and enjoyed a five year monopoly until the launch of MobileCom in late 2000. Despite the best efforts of MobileCom and more recently Umniah and XPress, Fastlink continues to dominate the market. PELLA has spent around USD100 million on its network in 2004/05.
