Argentina’s mobile subs top 20 million, traffic up more than 50%

Mobile operators in Argentina ended October with 20.3 million active subscriptions, up 70% year-on-year and a 2.1% increase on the previous month, according to government statistics bureau Indec. Mobile traffic was up 53.8% y-o-y. Indec said that fixed line local telephony minutes were down 0.7% y-o-y in October, while domestic long-distance calls rose 18.2% and outgoing international calls increased 22.6%.

At the end of September, Telefónica Móviles subsidiary Movistar led the Argentine mobile market with 7.209 million subscribers, ahead of CTI Móvil with 5.555 million customers and Telecom Personal (5.308 million).
