1 Dec 2005

According to Pakistan’s Minister for Information Technology, Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, the country’s telecoms sector is expected to attract up to USD4 billion in investments during the next three to four years. The Minister also said that the fixed and mobile markets would see significant growth in the next few years, a prediction which has already been reflected in statistics: fixed line subscribers grew from four million in 2003 to 5.9 million at the end of September 2005, while mobile users grew from 2.4 million to 19 million during the same period.
