Meteor could appeal against Smart 3G licence award

30 Nov 2005

Irish cellco Meteor Mobile is considering appealing against regulator ComReg’s award of the country’s fourth 3G licence to Smart Telecom, according to the Irish Independent. The paper claims that Meteor could argue against ComReg’s decision to award Smart’s bid extra points for being a new entrant into the mobile market. Smart has been active in the fixed line market since 2000. Meteor has until mid December to file any appeal.
