ADSL pushes broadband growth

Portugal’s telecoms regulator Anacom has reported that the country was home to 1.132 million broadband connections at the end of September, up 51.4% over twelve months. Broadband penetration now stands at 10.8%. ADSL connections are accounting for most of the growth in high speed lines, with 68,000 new customers in the third quarter compared to 16,000 net additions for cable modem services. There are now 640,800 ADSL subscribers and 488,400 cable internet users.
