T-Mobile maintains market lead

10 Nov 2005

T-Mobile’s subsidiary in the Czech Republic has held onto its pole position in the cellular market after taking over the number one spot earlier this year. The German-owned firm had 4.55 million subscribers at the end of September, while the previous market leader Eurotel had 4.49 million. Eurotel, which is part of the Telefónica-owned Cesky Telecom group, fell behind T-Mobile in the second quarter when it removed over 200,000 inactive pre-paid accounts from its subscriber base. The country’s third operator, Vodafone Oskar, has around two million customers.
