MobileCom contracts Ericsson for push e-mail

3 Nov 2005

Jordan’s second largest cellco MobileCom has contracted Ericsson to provide it with a complete push e-mail solution. The vendor will deliver and install its Ericsson Mobile Organiser (EMO), enabling MobileCom to offer its subscribers wireless access to e-mail and other PIM data, such as calendar and contacts, while on the move. The push e-mail service will operate over MobileCom’s GSM/GPRS/EDGE network, which was the first of its kind in Jordan when launched in July 2004. MobileCom, a subsidiary of PTO Jordan Telecom, celebrated its fifth anniversary last month, but remains some way behind market leader Fastlink in terms of market share.
