Mobile penetration rises to 90%

According to data from the National Communications Authority (NHH) the mobile penetration rate in Hungary stood at 90% at the end of September, up from 86.4% at the end of 2004 and 83% a year ago. The number of active subscribers grew 8.3% year-on-year to 9.74 million. T-Mobile is the largest cellco in the market with a 45.1% share at the end of September, with Pannon GSM in second place (34%) and Vodafone the smallest (20.9%) Both T-Mobile and Pannon GSM, however, saw their customer bases fall during the year, while Vodafone was the only one that reported an increase.
