Vivo deploys Nortel 3G solutions

Brasilcel, which operates under the banner Vivo, has deployed Nortel Networks’ CDMA2000 1x and 1x EV-DO wireless broadband solutions in the North, South and Centre-West regions of Brazil, enabling it to deliver high-speed advanced voice, video and multimedia services to customers. The cellco has also deployed a Nortel CDMA Packet MSC wireless softswitching solution designed to improve the quality of voice services.

Meanwhile, rival operator Oi has contracted Ericsson to deploy its mobile data services for the cellco. No details of the deal have been released.
