KPN buying digital ticket

26 Oct 2005

The Dutch telco KPN is acquiring a 51% stake in the mobile ticketing venture Beep! from current owner Imtech. KPN and Imtech say they will work together to develop digital ticketing services, which allows end-users to use their cellular handset to purchase tickets for concerts, sporting events, cinemas, theatres, theme parks and other events. The customer is issued with a digital ticket to their handset, which is then checked by a scanner at the entrance gate. So far, Beep! has sold over 100,000 e-tickets.
