TWC and Wi-LAN team up for tailored wireless broadband network

Ukrainian broadband provider Trans-World Communication (TWC) has teamed up with Canadian wireless network specialist Wi-LAN to develop a nationwide broadband wireless network. The two companies, in collaboration with the IITP, a research and development institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, will develop a specialised version of Wi-LAN’s Libra MXTM WiMAX platform optimised for the Ukraine and the eastern Europe region. TWC has agreed to purchase Libra MX products for the initial phase of the network build out. Additional orders are expected over the next two years and the network is expected to be completed by 2007.
