20 Oct 2005

T-Mobile has launched a high speed wireless broadband service which it says provides mobile data transmission at speeds of up to 1Mbps. The new service, dubbed ‘Internet 4G’, is based on UMTS TD-CDMA technology which has been developed by US firm IPWireless. High speed services are initially only available in Prague and will cost CZK699 (USD28) a month for a 512kbps connection or CZK999 a month for a 1Mbps connection. The offering will utilise frequencies in the 1900MHz band. On Monday T-Mobile’s subsidiary in Slovakia launched the world’s first commercial wireless broadband service based on Flash-OFDM technology.
