BTC selects Huawei for NGN upgrade

5 Oct 2005

Bulgaria’s dominant telecoms company Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC) has selected Chinese equipment manufacturer Huawei Technologies to upgrade its national fixed line network. Huawei will supply next generation network (NGN) and multi-service access network (MSAN) equipment to the Bulgarian telco, which currently controls more than 90% of the country’s fixed line market. The upgrade will bring BTC’s largely analogue network into the digital age, enabling it to offer higher bandwidth and a better performing service. The incumbent plans to have digitalised 80% of its network by 2008.
