Finns could see mobile VoIP in 2006

27 Sep 2005

The introduction of internet-based phone calls directly from a mobile handset could become reality in Finland next year, and manufacturers are promising to launch new terminals capable of supporting mobile VoIP within the next few months. According to Telecom & Mobility News, Nokia will launch its first corporate VoIP phone by the end of this year with models for the mass market following in 2006. The new handsets will use WLAN to connect to the internet where coverage is available, and use a normal mobile network where WLAN coverage is not available.
