ZTE to roll out WiMAX for VeratNet

26 Sep 2005

Serbian operator VeratNet has selected China’s ZTE Corporation to roll out its commercial WiMAX network – the first European contract award for WiMAX signed by the Chinese manufacturer. Under the deal, ZTE will deploy a nationwide network, which is due for completion by June 2007, serving close to ten million people with wireless broadband internet access. Phase one of the project, including base stations, roaming support architecture and product serialisation, is set to begin in January next year involving the rollout of 802.16e wireless equipment to business subscribers in the Serb capital Belgrade.
