Broadband subs up 170% y-o-y

There were 175,500 broadband subscribers in Ireland at the end of June, up 170% year-on-year, according to a report by regulator ComReg. DSL remains the most popular platform for broadband access, representing around 80% of subscriptions, down from 88% the year before. Meanwhile, fixed wireless broadband services exhibited the fastest growth, albeit from a small base, whilst cable broadband subscriptions grew by 25% in the quarter and now represent around 8% of the total.
