GrameenPhone passes four million subscribers

14 Sep 2005

Bangladeshi mobile market leader GrameenPhone has announced this week that it has signed up more than four million mobile customers. The Telenor subsidiary took six years to reach the one million subscriber mark after launching operations in 1997, and a further year to achieve two million customers in September 2004; around six months after that milestone it announced its three millionth user. It is planning to increase its network coverage to 80% of the population from the current figure of 55% by the end of this year.
