Broadband subs pass million mark

Portuguese telecoms regulator Anacom says the country was home to more than a million broadband subscribers at the end of June, up 61.3% on the mid-2004 figure. Anacom says ADSL connections numbered 573,282,while there were 491,382 broadband cable lines. ADSL subscriber numbers rose 14.8% in the second quarter of 2005, while cable modem connections were up by 6% over the same three-month period, meaning three out of every four new broadband connections is via ADSL technology.
