Alcatel inks deal to deploy Elisa’s IP service routing solution

13 Sep 2005

Paris-based equipment manufacturer Alcatel has won a contract to supply Elisa Corporation with an IP service routing solution to power its next-generation IP/MPLS network. Elisa is one of Finland’s leading telecoms service providers, with more than 1.22 million fixed line subscribers and 222,307 broadband users at the end of 2004. The company recently commissioned a new nationwide network, in July 2005, utilising several hundred network nodes based on Alcatel’s 7750 Service Router and 5620 Service Aware Manager products. Deploying the new IP service routing solution will further enable the convergence of fixed and mobile operations onto a single platform, resulting in lower capital expenditure and operating costs, as well as delivering a new range of services to end users.
