Digiweb launches Metro network

9 Sep 2005

Irish broadband provider Digiweb has announced the launch of its new Metro network, which it claims is the only alternative to eircom’s last-mile access network. Based on DOCSIS 2.0, the Metro network is being launched simultaneously in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Limerick, Waterford and Dundalk; by mid-2006 the company hopes to have population coverage of 70%. Entry level packages on the new network offer 3Mbps broadband with a full telephony service, free line rental and free voice calls to other Digiweb customers for EUR35 per month; an additional line can be added for EUR5 per month.
