Tele2 to request access to Portugal Telecom exchanges

Pan-European alternative telecoms operator Tele2 is seeking access to certain local exchanges owned by incumbent operator Portugal Telecom (PT) in order to begin offering direct services to its subscribers, according to press reports from AFX News. It is not known exactly how many exchanges Tele2 is targeting, but the Portuguese business daily Jornal de Negocios has said that the company is possibly interested in gaining access to 100 of PT’s 1,657 exchanges.
