PTA expects USD2 billion telecoms investment

30 Aug 2005

According to a spokesman from regulator the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA), Pakistan is expected to attract a USD2 billion investment in the telecoms sector during the next two years. The majority of the investment is expected to be spent on expanding existing infrastructure in the country, with rural areas of the country set to receive coverage.

The PTA has also said it may purchase advanced equipment to test the quality of service provided by telcos. The PTA said it will conduct its next survey on the quality of services in the country in September.
