JT launches end to end VoIP

30 Aug 2005

Jordan Telecom (JT) claims to be the first telco in the Middle East to launch an end-to-end voice-over-IP (VoIP) product commercially. The company says subscribers to its Livebox service will keep their original PSTN lines and be supplied with an internet telephony terminal with a new number. Livebox is available in three tariffs at speeds of either 512kbps or 1024kbps, and claims to offer monthly savings of up to 20% on fixed to mobile calls. JT currently has around 18,000 ADSL subscribers and broadband coverage of 95% of the population.
