PTA to boost rural services

The chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced plans to boost rural services in the country. The PTA will establish telecentres across the country in a bid to bring services to areas which are currently not covered by a telecoms network. The PTA said that is will also concentrate on improving the quality of services to those areas already served; it plans to invest USD2 billion in fixed line incumbent Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) over the next two years.

Meanwhile, PTCL has revealed plans of its own to revamp its customer care department. The telco plans to introduce a number of new services and improve existing ones.
