Digicel eyes two more markets

The Digicel Group has confirmed that it has been given government approval to launch a GSM network in the Eastern Caribbean island of Anguilla and has been given the green light to acquire Cingular Wireless’ operation in Bermuda. Digicel already operates in eight countries – Aruba, Barbados, Curaçao, The Cayman Islands, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines – and plans to launch in Trinidad & Tobago and Haiti in the near future. It also has an agreement to acquire, subject to regulatory approval, Cingular Wireless’ Caribbean operations which will add PoPs in St Kitts and Nevis, Antigua, Barbuda and Dominica as well as licences to operate in St Martin, St Barths, Guadeloupe and Martinique.
