T-Mobile takes top spot

12 Aug 2005

As expected, T-Mobile’s subsidiary in the Czech Republic has overtaken its main rival to take the leading position in the cellular market. The German-owned company had 4.46 million customers at the end of June, up from 4.36 million at the start of the year. Meanwhile, Eurotel which is owned by Telefónica subsidiary Cesky Telecom, had 4.42 million customers at the end of June, down from 4.6 million six months earlier following its move to terminate inactive pre-paid accounts. The Czech Republic’s other cellular operator, Oskar, has 1.95 million subscribers.
