AIS subscribers rise, but price war impacts on ARPU

28 Jul 2005

Thailand’s largest cellco Advanced Info Services (AIS) added a net new 145,100 subscribers in June, finishing the month with a total customer base of 15.8 million, of which 86.7% were pre-paid. However, the mobile market’s ongoing price war lead to a drop in monthly ARPU, with the pre-paid figure declining to THB291 (USD6.97), from THB302 in May, whilst ARPU for users of the cellco’s two contract plans, GSM Advance and GSM 1800, fell to THB1,114 (THB1,115) and THB984 (THB1,003) respectively.
