PTCL will not pay compensation

20 Jul 2005

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) has said that it will not pay the USD43 million in damages requested by companies which suffered outages during the recent fault on the cable which caused severe disruption to the internet. The fault lasted eleven days and affected internet service providers, call centres and telcos. PTCL maintains that the problem was not its fault and said it is not therefore required by law to pay damages.
