DSL upgrade for KPN

20 Jul 2005

French equipment supplier Alcatel has been awarded a contract by KPN of the Netherlands for ADSL2+ technology to pave the way for the introduction of ‘triple play’ telephony, TV and internet services by the former monopoly telco. Alcatel will upgrade 1.3 million DSL lines as part of the deal, helping to boost KPN’s ADSL2+ coverage to around 70% of Dutch households by the end of the year. The upgrade is due to be completed in the fourth quarter.
