Moroccan wireless operator Médi Télécom (Méditel) reported yesterday that it has received a domestic fixed line operating licence. Méditel, backed by Portugal Telecom and Spain’s Telefónica, paid MAD75 million (USD8.27 million) for the country’s second wireline concession; prior to the award the incumbent Maroc Télécom was the sole licensed provider of fixed telephony services.
