Submarine fault cuts off mobile and internet services

A fault in a key submarine cable has seen Pakistan’s internet and cellphone links to the rest of the world collapse. Reports have claimed that millions of people have been affected by the breakdown, although this has been played down by the cable’s operating agent SingTel. Engineers have said that the fault will take around two weeks to repair, during which time it may have to be completely shut down, which could cause disruption in India, the UAE, Dijbouti and Oman.
