Willcom to launch high speed PHS

Willcom, formerly known as DDI Pocket, has revealed that it may bid for the use of a 2.0GHz frequency band to launch its next generation, high speed personal handyphone system (PHS) services in Japan. The country’s Ministry of International Affairs and Communications is planning to release a 1.7GHz band to up to two new entrants and release a 2GHz band to one new entrant.
