ADSL penetration in Jordan has now passed the 10% mark – equivalent to more than 500,000 lines – according to incumbent operator Jordan Telecom. The telco says that a range of new broadband packages has fuelled take-up and it is now upgrading and expanding its network further to meet increasing demand. In February Jordan Telecom announced a series of initiatives designed to drive internet growth in the Kingdom. Under the plan, the national operator is launching a range of services aimed at encouraging widespread take-up of new technologies among the business community. New products being phased in include managed network services, online payment products and high speed access technologies.
