Cingular fails to meet launch deadline

9 Jun 2005

Cingular Wireless (formerly AT&T Wireless) looks likely to be penalized by the Jamaican government for failing to meet the deadline to roll out mobile services in the country. The operator won Jamaica’s fourth mobile licence in early 2004, paying JMD300 million (USD4.97 million): under the terms of the licence it was required to launch within one year. It has still not launched services.
