ICE to offer ADSL connections

7 Jun 2005

Costa Rican telco Grupo ICE is preparing to launch commercial ADSL services early next month, BNamericas reports. The monopoly operator is aiming to complete the deployment of 85,000 ADSL lines by July, with another 100,000 ports to be connected by the end of the year. ICE’s network will initially offer data speeds of 256kbps to 512kbps, with a faster service scheduled to be launched in August. It also intends to complement its ADSL services by increasing the availability of ISDN lines. ICE currently offers dedicated high speed internet connections to around 700 medium-to-large businesses in Costa Rica.
